My time in Argentina has been incredible and Argentina is incredible. I cannot even begin to describe how grateful I am to have experienced all that I have; from new foods, friendships, to new work/study habits, and new-found family. I am grateful to have lived here for just about 6 months because I have met some of the most amazing people who have accepted me with open arms and I have been able to see some beautiful things.
Argentina is filled with helpful, strong, and loving people, that are resourceful beyond belief. Sure, it has “problems” like any other country-look back home. But, what I have learned is how powerful perceptions are, Argentine people perceive disorder as a normal, which people who grew up in the US may perceive as bad, due to how the US is governed by structure, but who is to say which way is better because that is one’s own perspective.
Being able to live in Tucumán, has shown me a different way of living life, also paralleled by similarities. The differences were in the eating schedule, relaxed time schedule, and closeness between friends, Professors and students, and random people on the street or in restaurants. The insecurity levels within the economy as well as personal safety…oh and the non-stop meat! Where the similarities were marked by happiness, and everyone striving to live the best life that she/or he can. Or, the love for Geology, or love for family and friends (although shown in different ways), and people aspiring to take care of the one’s they care about.
Living abroad has taught me so much about myself, about other world-views, and how beautiful life is. It is so important to be grateful for all that you have to allow yourself to be grateful for what is to come! Thank you for all of the Captured Instances, Argentina!!
