Tren a las nubes is a train that cruises at elevations upwards of 14,000 feet!
Built in 1921, with President Hipólito Irigoyen’s movement for power to the pueblos and expansion of Argentine resources, the train passes through the Puna of Northwest Argentina. The train is an-all day journey, marked by busses, train, and more busses. The train passes through multiple small towns located in The Andean Mountains, including San Antonio de los Cobres. The highest town in Argentina, located at a staggering 12,385 feet (3,775 meters)!!

The train is an incredible experience because it allows passengers to see the natural beauty and mystic air that The Andes have manifested. It is also an incredible way to meet the natives of the smaller towns and help boost the economies; either by eating Andean grown quinoa or purchasing beautifully hand-crafted items. Plus, you are able to feel the majesty of the land around you!
