Rainbow Mountains: How do They Get All That Color?

Located in the Northwest of Argentina, the mysterious Puna of The Andean Mountains, connecting Argentina, Chile, Bolivia, and Peru is a sight out of a fairy-tale to be seen. The high altitude met by the extremely dry climate due to a Rain Shadow Effect created this…a beautiful mountain of colors. Preserved by the extreme dryness of the eco-region, deposited rock layers do not weather and keep their initial, incredible form. How amazing is that people????

Story behind the photo:

I was lucky enough to take a gaze at this Rainbow Mountain or “Cerro de Colores” on a solo-trip in Salta, Argentina when I took a train ride, “Tren a las nubes”, at 14,000 feet through The Andes.

[I am so grateful for everything that this experience has been and I continue to be amazed by everything I am learning. All of the challenges and fun times, I am grateful for everything I am learning and seeing! Every single one of the captured instances.]
